LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- "Wreaths Across America" wreaths arrived at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery on Thursday.
This will be the first year every veteran's grave at the cemetery will receive a wreath for the holidays.
More than 11,000 wreaths will be placed on Saturday, Dec. 14, after a ceremony at noon. It's open to the public.
"This will be a very special day for us," Dr. Scott Giltner, location coordinator, Gov. Isaac Shelby Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, said in a news release. "We have waited for years to be able to say we are covering every veteran's grave for the holidays. To see every grave honored with a wreath will be extremely powerful."
Attendees will be asked to place wreaths on graves in remembrance of the sacrifices veterans have made. Organizers said parking will be available at Christ Church United Methodist, 4614 Brownsboro Road. Shuttles will run to and from the cemetery, which is located at 4701 Brownsboro Road.
