LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A WDRB investigation has uncovered a dangerous, illegal drug on store shelves.

Our team has investigated liquid synthetic cannabinoids for six months. Police say five Meade County high school students took the drug and were hospitalized in May.

Some teens have been buying liquid spice and smoking it out of e-cigarettes to get high, and officials say that high can be deadly.

"It's a death sentence is what it is," said Meade County Sheriff Butch Kerrick. "Sooner or later, you're gonna experience your high and everything else, but sooner or later it's gonna grip you to the extent that you're not gonna wake up."

WDRB reporters Toni Konz and Tamara Evans worked with police and went undercover to reveal the stores in Louisville that are selling liquid spice -- and the dangers of these drugs. We'll show you what our cameras found tonight on WDRB News at 6 and 10.
