President Trump makes a lot of decisions with which I agree. He also makes decisions I do not understand. Last week, he commuted George Santos' prison sentence less than three months into a seven-year term. For the life of me, I don't know what the president had to gain by doing that.

Nobody except whack-a-doodle Marjorie Taylor Greene was asking for a get-out-of-jail-free card for Santos. Nobody claimed he was wrongly convicted.

Santos engaged in a wide array of lies about his personal background and was convicted of serious federal financial crimes. He repeatedly charged his donors' credit cards without their knowledge or authorization. He stole the identities of at least 11 people, including his own family members. He falsified campaign records. He illegally applied for and received more than $24,000 in COVID-related unemployment benefits while he was making $120,000 a year!

President Trump cited the fact that Santos was "100% for Trump" and a "solid" partisan vote for his agenda. That's swell, but George Santos is a convicted criminal who got a free pass because he was nice to the president. This decision is indefensible.

What do you think?
