A Kentucky State Police trooper indicted in March for allegedly assaulting multiple people and committing perjury is now facing a federal lawsuit filed on behalf of a construction worker he is accused of macing and repeatedly tasing without reason.

Officer Dusten Dean, who was reprimanded last week for shooting pepper balls at journalists during the 2020 riots after the Breonna Taylor raid, is under investigation again for similar actions against protesters the same night.

The city will release body camera video within 10 business days and the Inspector General will also review all officer involved shooting cases. A copy of the case file will be provided to the Commonwealth’s Attorney and KSP for review.

On Thursday, an attorney for Kenneth Gregory will ask a judge to lower his $100,000 bond, arguing he has no criminal history and the bond is “excessive to ensure his appearance at court and the continued safety of the public.”

Kevin Crawford testified that Tae-Ahn Lea was slow to pull over, his hands were shaking, and he did not tell the officer he had a “weapon” — a baseball bat — in his vehicle

Det. Gabe Hellard also told investigators that Tae-Ahn Lea was “verbally aggressive” and “had an attitude the whole time over the whole stop.”

Attorney Sam Aguiar, who represents Taylor's family, says police are also improperly withholding information about body camera footage from before and after the raid of Taylor's home.
