LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- A tense rescue unfolded in Nelson County after a woman’s car flipped and landed upside down in a freezing creek.

Deputies found the vehicle in the water with the driver trapped inside. Body camera video shows rescuers calling out to her while struggling to get the door open, racing against the icy water and time.

Firefighters and deputies used a ladder truck to hoist the woman up and out of the creek. She was then taken to waiting medical crews.

Despite the terrifying scene, officials say the woman suffered only minor injuries and is now back home.

Crews later pulled the crushed and mangled car from the water, showing just how severe the crash was.
