Highway officials are going to be cracking down on seatbelt violations ahead of Memorial Day weekend.

According to ISP, more than 800 people were killed on Indiana roads last year. Of the 565 fatalities that occurred in passenger vehicles, 364 people that died weren't wearing seat belts.
Of the fatal crashes in Indiana, state police say well over half of the victims were not wearing their seat belt.
In Kentucky, seat belt usage is below the national rate of 86 percent.
