Metro Department of Corrections Director Jerry Collins said the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center in La Grange has begun working here and around the state to perform some evaluations through video conferences or coming to the facilities.
Inaction by the state-run psychiatric center has left hundreds of criminal cases on hold across the state, with some defendants jailed indefinitely.
The judge said she wouldn't hold Schroeder in contempt of court if he testifies to the committee next Monday.
Attorney Sam Aguiar said the agreement will allow them to get the information more quickly and they could later fight for records to be made public.
In court records and a press release, the attorneys claim police and city officials have ignored subpoenas and “unlawfully denied” several open records request, continuing a pattern of “lack of transparency.”
“You can’t reason with them,” said former Judge Sean Delahanty. “Logic -- reason -- is not something they respond to.”
“Your record is made, sir, and poorly made I might add so step away,” Judge McKay Chauvin said shortly before ordering attorney Ryen Schimerman into custody.
