There have been five deaths in Nelson County since last Wednesday, and two of them were teenagers.
Today the National Lightning Safety Council shared their data of lightning-related deaths from 2022, and one of those deaths happened in Kentucky. 19 people died in the contiguous United States and Puerto Rico from June through September.
The new policy, which took effect April 26 according to an internal memo written by Chief Erika Shields, is a rollback to a policy enacted in December 2012 to reduce deaths and injuries caused by the chases.
A total of 9,432 people have died from coronavirus in Indiana since Feb. 2020.
The statewide seven-day positivity rate for the week ending Dec. 1 is 14%.
Indiana's statewide positivity rate for the week ending Nov. 20 is 11.1%.
Another 6,059 people have tested positive for the virus.
Indiana hospitals were treating 3,077 COVID-19 patients as of Thursday - a 277% increase since late September.
The seven-day positivity rate for Indiana from Oct. 15-21 is at 7.1%.
The statewide positivity rate over the past seven days is seven percent.
