The president and CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center, DeVone Holt, is stepping down less than a year after taking on the role.
Louisville native DeVone Holt had a street named after him Thursday near where he grew up in the Parkland neighborhood.
"I don't have to learn this job. "I don't have to learn this man. I know what I have to do. Now all I have to do is walk in it."
DeVone Holt was selected by the nonprofit museum and cultural center's board of directors to serve in the role.
Holt was the face of the campaign, raising money and support for the Goodwill Opportunity Campus at 28th and Broadway.
DeVone Holt said he always wanted to be part of the solution to big problems like poverty and crime.
Central High School held its second African American Read-In Thursday.
Weekly meetings for young men 13 and up are scheduled every Saturday at By Any Means Fitness studio on Mellwood Avenue.
Another goal of the program is to prevent repeat criminal offenses.
