LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A $4 million federal grant is funding a Goodwill program aimed at helping Kentucky inmates.

Goodwill and the Labor Department started the Aspire Program, which helps currently incarcerated people learn skills to get back into the workforce. Another goal of the program is to prevent repeat criminal offenses.

The program is in seven Kentucky jails. Once released, the program continues to help them be self-sufficient.

"Allows us as a community to sleep better at night knowing that we are putting men and women to work in positions and careers that allow them not only to work on themselves but to be strong contributors to out community," Devone Holt, Goodwill Chief of External Affairs said.
