LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Central High School held its second African American Read-In Thursday.Ā
Local artists, government officials, and school leaders shared some of their favorite books with students, including author Devone Holt, who talked about a book he called "Hip Hop Slop."
"It's Black History Month," Holt said. "And there's a lot of literature by Black authors who have made huge contributions to this country's culture, this country's thinking, and how we operate quite frankly as citizens of this country.Ā
Holt said his book encourages students to pay attention to the world around them, and the influences around them.
