Emergency services officials said their call center in downtown Louisville experienced a higher-than-normal volume of calls during Monday's mass shooting at Old National Bank, causing some callers to be put on hold.

LMPD officers and emergency service staff were honored after saving a 6-year-old girl who was kidnapped near Valley Station Road in southwest Louisville in July.

Nelson County recently started using new technology that's helping 911 dispatchers save time, which can make all the difference in an emergency situation.

Floyd County Council signed off on increasing dispatchers' pay by $3,000 this week. 

He said he'd had a bad day at school -- and his "emergency" involved fractions.
