Firefighters battled a late-night house fire on Harkaway Avenue, working in freezing conditions to contain the flames after the home’s lone occupant escaped safely.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a two-story vacant building on fire.

The fire was reported about 9:18 a.m. Friday.  

The Georgetown Township Fire District budgeted to add on nine new hires and invested $700,000 to update the station inside and out.
