Governor Andy Beshear said the closure was recommended by Kentucky State Police and other security experts, like the FBI.

The flight took 113 service members from World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War to tour the country's war memorials.

Beshear took to Twitter to denounce the demonstration, saying "We will not be intimidated. We will not be bullied."

As the Jefferson Davis statue in the Kentucky state Capitol was removed Saturday morning, artifacts were found inside its base. 

Back in 2014, the Kentucky General Assembly approved the addition and renovation of the courthouse that sits on the square in New Castle.
