Jefferson County Public Schools heard from parents Monday for the first time since unveiling its plan to close or consolidate several schools.

JCPS plans $132M in cuts, eyes taxes and school closures to address $188M deficit.

The largest school district in Kentucky is currently short $188 million, and district leaders said in mid-September that it could be forced to sell assets to meet payroll. 

Jefferson County Public Schools leaders say the state’s largest school district is facing a financial crisis that could leave it out of money in just over a year.

The tour is a way for students and staff to open up dialogue with the Superintendent and get a better understanding of JCPS' vision.

The goal was to bring people together who are committed to the success of Black students and teachers at JCPS.
