The Jefferson County Board of Education has appointed a new member to the District 2 seat formerly held by Chris Kolb.

The district's decision to alter start times for the second year in a row follows a decision to cut transportation.

The effort to pump the brakes on the plan came as the city's mayor announced a possible solution to the district's bus driver shortage — although not everyone is on board.

JCPS Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio said the first few days of school are always difficult.

It will be the largest raise for JCPS teachers in over two decades. 

The district announced on social media that 11 principals were hired -- five are black and six are white, but the posts were removed.
