After two years without a library, Middletown officially has a new place to check out books.
Construction crews are putting the final touches on a new location for the library branch.
Louisville Free Public Library announced on Friday that the new location's grand opening would be held Nov. 15.
It's a new chapter for the library in a book with a fairy-tale ending.
This comes after more than a year of effort and debate to keep the library open amid Louisville Metro budget issues.
Monday night, the Metro Council Budget Committee allotted $500,000 to move the library to a new location if Middletown city leaders can find a new home for the branch at no cost to the city.
The amendment comes after weeks of protest and demands for reform.
The plan would ensure existing library funds libraries and books exclusively.
The popular Middletown Branch could close again by next summer.
"I'm just asking the mayor, very simply, do your job," Metro Councilman Anthony Piagentini said.
