The officers were shot during an exchange of gunfire with Anthony Richmond, 29, following a traffic stop in Mitchell just after 3 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 5.

It happened during a traffic stop at 3:15 a.m. Sunday on State Road 37 in Lawrence County, ISP said in a news release.
