Sgt. Kyle Adams was just eight shifts away from retiring from the department when he was killed in an off-duty accident. 

The procession escorted Sgt. Kyle Adams' body to the Fern Creek Funeral Home.

According to Dewayne Hutchens, an assistant fire chief with the Fern Creek Fire Department, the sergeant became trapped under a piece of equipment while he was working.
