Despite annual profits in the millions, the owner cites a decline in sales and operating hours due to staffing shortages as reasons for the sale. 

The city recognizes the shortage and is trying to combat that with a push for new applicants.

The aquatic center had already switched to weekend hours earlier this month as schools reopened for the fall semester.
