Owner to sell The Silver Dollar on Frankfort Avenue

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A popular bar and restaurant in Louisville's Clifton neighborhood is now for sale.

The owner of The Silver Dollar announced in a news release Wednesday that the restaurant, located at 1761 Frankfort Avenue, is on the market.

Despite annual profits in the millions, the owner cites a decline in sales and operating hours due to staffing shortages as reasons for the sale.

"I’ll always be a supporter of Silver Dollar, but I think it’s time for fresh leadership as my business partner has left the business," Shawn Cantley, who currently owns The Silver Dollar, said.

The restaurant opened in 2011 and has been nationally recognized as one of the top whiskey bars, earning a spot a "10 Best Whiskey Bars in America" list.

"Opening Silver Dollar and welcoming guests over the past 13 years has been an incredibly rewarding experience," Cantley said. "To play a small part in the rise of Bourbon Tourism and watching the food and drink scene in Louisville receive national and international recognition has been amazing."
