JCPS students will have an extra day of school this year for all that time off for the winter storm that came through last month.
Pollio said it's taken the better part of three months to lock in the district's bus routing plan for the new school year and he said it'd be a "major lift" to have to redo it all.
The letter is addressed as, "an open letter to JCPS school and district leaders."
The main focus for the district right now is whether to provide transportation or not, and to which students.
The superintendent said as he recovers, he may not be as visible in the school district over the next several weeks so he can focus on his rehabilitation.
Remember, many families have the option to attend a JCPS school close to home, or further away, and this gets even more complicated next year.
It adds to the list of the district's two other pending audits into its transportation system.
The announcement is expected more than three weeks after the district delayed the start date for the programs.
With Jefferson County Public Schools students out of school until Friday at the earliest, the district is working to help parents and families who may need assistance.
Wednesday, Aug. 9, was the first day of school for JCPS students. However, some students didn't get home until almost 10 p.m. amid new bus routes and school start times.
