David K. Dickson, 36, died in a shooting at Thornton's gas station on South 1st Street and West Broadway on June 12. Tavon Parrish, 31, pleaded not guilty to murder after the shooting.

Police said the suspect shot the victim because he thought he wanted to fight him.

Security guard Tavon Parrish told detectives he confronted a man for stealing a can of beer, and was afraid he wanted to fight.

The shooting happened Sunday night at First and Broadway in downtown Louisville.
