The mall on Bardstown Road is still up for sale after being listed last November.
The mall is home to The Caravan Comedy Club, Baxter Avenue Theatres, ValuMarket, as well as a branch of the Louisville Free Public Library.
The new sports courts feature a half-court basketball area, two pickleball courts and two tennis courts.
Once the restoration is complete, parkgoers will have two tennis courts, two pickleball courts and a half-court basketball court to use.
The Tyler Park Neighborhood Association plans to plant dozens of trees.
It's the first time since 2019 the festival has been held due to COVID-19.
The goal is to receive $100,000 pledges by Oct. 15. Thus far, more than $32,000 has been pledged.
