LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Borden High School girls basketball team is the IHSAA 1A state champions once again.
Borden defeated Fremont, 51-31, Saturday in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to become back-to-back IHSAA 1A Girls Basketball State Champions.
All five starters are seniors, four of them started as freshman. Three have reached the 1,000-point mark in their careers and they've done a lot of winning.
Last season was the first championship game appearance for Borden and it took the largest successful comeback in IHSAA history to claim the title.
For the program's second appearance, the Lady Braves left little doubt.
The Lady Braves held a 22-15 lead at halftime and outscored the Eagles 18-5 in the third quarter to build a 20-point lead.
Borden finishes the season 25-4 and with a 12-game winning streak. In the last four seasons, the Lady Braves have a combined record of 85-21 with only two of those losses coming in Southern Conference play.
This was also the 14th consecutive state tournament game win for the Braves.
