LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Peyton Siva has worn a lot of hats in basketball — floor general, national champion, overseas pro. This summer, he’ll add a new one: player-coach.
Siva, who just finished his first season on the University of Louisville coaching staff, will suit up once again for The Ville, the Cardinals alumni team competing in The Basketball Tournament. But this time, he’ll also help coach the squad, working alongside former teammate Luke Hancock, who will serve as head coach.
Siva has played in each of the past two TBTs for The Ville, and his return in 2025 keeps him at the heart of a roster that includes fellow former Cardinals Russ Smith and Montrezl Harrell and David Johnson as well as Jay Scrubb and David Sloan. More names are expected to join in the coming weeks.
After leading Louisville to back-to-back Big East Championships and Final Fours, as well as the 2013 NCAA championship, Siva was the 56th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. He spent one year in Detroit, before moving to the Erie BayHawks of the NBA G-League, then playing professionally in Europe, New Zealand, and Australia before retiring in 2023.
The Siva-Smith combination, along with other links to Louisville’s championship team, has been a big draw for fans.
By being the first region to sell 4,000 tickets, Louisville has won the opportunity to have home court advantage for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the $1 million championship game. Tickets are still available to purchase at tbthoops.com/tickets.
The winner of the Louisville Regional will advance to TBT’s quarterfinals on July 29. The semifinals will be held on July 31, and TBT’s $1 million championship will be played on Aug. 3.
