LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville has a lot to celebrate this December, including another lifetime achievement award for legendary jockey Pat Day.Â
The community is invited to the museum on Dec. 11, 2025, for its annual "Derby in December" event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Several special activities are planned throughout the day, according to a news release Monday, including drawings for exclusive prize packages.
This year's event will also feature presentation of the museum’s second Lifetime Achievement Award to Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day. A meet-and-greet will take place afterwards, along with the unveiling of a new temporary exhibit honoring Day's storied career.
"We are honored to present Pat Day with our Lifetime Achievement Award this year," Pat Armstrong, president and CEO of the Kentucky Derby Museum, said in the release. "His remarkable career, integrity, and enduring connection to the sport embody the very best of what the Derby stands for. This event is our way of celebrating both his legacy and the passion that keeps Derby traditions alive year-round."
During the event, the Kentucky Derby Festival will reveal the 2026 Pegasus Pin. Also, the 25th running of the Humana Marathon will be celebrated with an exclusive discount for 2026. Guests will have an opportunity to buy tickets to Derby Festival events as well as opportunities to take photos with the Kentucky Derby trophy and a replica of the Garland of Roses from Kroger.
Admission to "Derby in December" is free, and complimentary gifts and treats will be available for the first guests through the door while supplies last.
