A sampling of posts about his commitment to Louisville from the Instagram page of Isaac Ellis, a high-scoring point guard who has more than 425,000 followers on the platform and more than 1.1 million on TikTok.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville men's basketball added a high-scoring – and influential -- backcourt talent to its future ranks Monday, as 2027 combo guard Isaac Ellis committed to the Cardinals following an unofficial visit over the weekend.

Ellis, a 6-foot-1 guard from Moravian Prep (N.C.), was previously committed to South Carolina before reopening his recruitment last month and reclassifying from the 2026 to the 2027 class. He’s the younger brother of South Carolina freshman Eli Ellis.

Isaac Ellis told On3 Sports’ Joe Tipton that the program’s culture and energy sold him on Louisville.

“I love the culture and the entire staff,” Ellis said. “Everybody preaches on family and culture, but you can kind of sniff out when they are faking it. On my visit I could tell everything they preach on they follow. It was a super great culture, a lot of energy and a really high standard.”

Ellis also praised head coach Pat Kelsey.

“It wasn’t your normal college basketball locker room or practice,” he told On3. “Everything is super detailed and they do things at a really high level on all aspects. I love coach Pat — he is an everyday competitive guy and he pumps his guys with energy all the time. He is who he is and he’s OK with that and that’s someone I wanted to play for.”

Ellis is averaging 30.4 points, 8.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while playing for YNG Dreamerz in the Overtime Elite league. He set the OTE single-game scoring record with 56 points in a game this fall and recently became the league's all-time assists leader.

Off the court, Ellis has built a major social media following, with more than 1 million followers on TikTok and over 400,000 on Instagram. The brothers have a popular YouTube reality series, “Family Business.”

Louisville is now up to two commitments in the Class of 2027. Ellis joins local power forward Ferlandes Wright, a local product now playing for La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana, who pledged to the program last month. The pair currently give U of L a Top 10-rated 2027 recruiting class, according to early rankings.

Ellis previously held offers from Oklahoma State, Murray State, App State, Indiana State, Radford, Eastern Kentucky, Queens and High Point.
