LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --  2014 Hwang's Martial Arts World Taekwondo Championship happens on Saturday, October 18th at Broadbent Arena.

At least 1500 people are expected to visit the Kentucky Exposition Center for the event. The 28th Annual Championship features demonstrations, sparring, forms and breaking.

The Hwang's Martial Arts World Taekwondo Championship (HWTC) exists to create international friendships and awaken the champion residing within each competitor.

Since 1986, the HWTC has given opportunities for Taekwondo students of all ages and ability levels to participate in safe competition.

Each competitor receives a 3-foot trophy for form competition (poomsae), and a high quality gold medal for breaking and sparring divisions.

The HWTC promotes confidence through light contact sparring with no head shots.
