LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville is the place to be this spring and summer, from Thunder Over Louisville to the the Kentucky Derby, PGA Championship, Bourbon & Beyond and Louder than Life.

Louisville's busy spring season is estimated to bring in over $500,000 to the city's economy.

Clark Welch, vice president of economic development with Greater Louisville Inc., visited WDRB Mornings on Tuesday to talk about the impact that these big events have had on the city.

Louisville Tourism estimates the Kentucky Derby alone brought in $405 million in economic impact this year, not including revenue from the Kentucky Derby Festival.

Following behind it, the PGA of America estimated over $100 million in economic impact for the PGA Championship.

Greater Louisville Inc. hopes tourists will not only return to the city because they enjoyed it but for the hospitality we offer.

"Time and time again we hear that Louisville is one of the best kept secrets once people come and spend a weekend or a week here," Welch said Tuesday. "They leave feeling like they've been welcomed in the community here."

Louisville's economic footprint for 2024 is not over. Jack Harlow's Gazebo Festival kicks off May 25, with Bourbon & Beyond and Louder than Life returning in September.
