NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) — The local Friday fish fries continue in New Albany.
WDRB's Keith Kaiser joined the crew at Knights of Columbus as they prepare for the day.
Knights of Columbus Cardinal Ritter Council #1221 have been having fish fries for more than 60 years.
They have one the first Friday of every month, but during Lent, there is one every Friday starting March 20 and running through Good Friday, April 3.
During the pandemic, they started a drive-thru lunch fish fry from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the evening fish fry starting at 4:30 p.m.
Proceeds from these events are donated to various charities in the area.
The setup and fish breading and event prep begin every Friday at about 7:30 a.m. They hand batter and bread all the fish. More than 10 people will help prepare and distribute around 300 pounds of fish each Friday.
