LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Orchestra is kicking off the holiday weekend with the Independence Day Weekend Concert.
The concert is a free event for families to enjoy at River Ridge in Jeffersonville.
James Seymour, principal trombone player for the Louisville Orchestra, visited WDRB Mornings on Monday to talk about the upcoming concert. It will feature all-American music, including some Leonard Bernstein and soul music from Aretha Franklin and James Brown.
Before the concert, games and food trucks will be set up at American Place in River Ridge from 6-8 p.m. The concert will start at 8 p.m.
Orchestra members said they are looking forward to playing again as a group after the previous season ended.
"Playing with all my colleagues is what I'm excited about," Seymour said. "We've been practicing at home for the past month, and it'll be really great to get back together."
People are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks to enjoy during the concert.
