LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- Fans of Pontiacs, Oaklands and GMC's are celebrating these classic cars during an International Convention in Louisville.
WDRB's Keith Kaiser explores the Kentucky Exposition Center before the cars went on display.
In 1909, the General Motor Company acquired the Oakland Motor Company.
Soon after that in 1926, the Oakland division of GM introduced the Pontiac, a less expensive companion car.
During the depression years, Pontiac significantly outsold the more expensive Oakland, which was discontinued in 1931.
The last Pontiac was made in 2010 but enthusiasts keep the legacy alive.
Pontiac-Oakland Club International (POCI) was formed in 1972 and it's first convention was held in 1973.
The conventions are hosted once a year in different parts of the country.
The 53rd POCI Convention is happening in Louisville June 8 - June 12, 2025 at the Crowne Plaza Louisville Airport Expo Center.
The Louisville Pontiac Club, the local chapter, is hosting the convention this year.
The last time the club was in Louisville was 2015.
POCI mission is to continue the history of the Pontiac, Oakland and GMC vehicles through tech sessions, gathering parts and guest seminars focusing on building & designing.
The club will show off the cars at the Kentucky Exposition Center on Thursday, June 12th.
The last day of the convention.
