LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- St. Joe's Picnic is gearing up to celebrate 175 years on Friday and Saturday.
The annual fundraiser helps children served by St. Joseph Children's Home.
Part of the celebration this year includes a special $1.75 price for the always popular chicken dinner. Organizers say 4,000 chicken dinners will be available at the picnic, and must be paid for in cash.Â
As always, there will be a wide variety of games and food trucks for all attendees.
Around 50,000 people are expected to show up for the day-and-a-half event.
Chief Advancement Officers Suzy Hillebrand and Chris Williams joined WDRB Mornings Tuesday to talk about the historic event and what it means to them.
"We care for Kentucky's kids," Hillebrand said. "Every child has a right to a safe place to sleep, clothes on their back, and to know where their next meal is coming from."
The picnic will be held at St. Joseph's Children's Home on Frankfort Avenue, in the Crescent Hill neighborhood.
