LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Water Tower has gotten a much needed make over.

WDRB's Keith Kaiser explores the new changes before the Grand Reopening.

After years of a massive restoration project, guests will have a chance to see the updates of the oldest standing ornamental water tower in the country.

Tours will take them inside the Tower as well as the current pumping station.

The WaterWorks Museum will be open along with the Grand Hall which overlooks the Ohio River.

Tapper will join the fun and make a guest appearance for the festivities.

Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17

Tours begin at 11 a.m. and continue every hour, with the last tour starting at 4 p.m.

Fun fact: It took more than 900 gallons of paint to restore the Tower and the original Pumping Station No. 1 to their glory.

Louisville Water provides drinking water to nearly one million people in Louisville Metro and surrounding counties.

On average, the company produces 127 million gallons of Louisville Pure Tap each day.

Louisville Water began operations in October 1860 as Kentucky’s first public water provider.
