LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- West Louisville has a restaurant to shake up your taste buds.

WDRB's Keith Kaiser gets a taste of Tino's Taste of Heaven.

Anthony "Tino" Sutton is living his dream of making great food for great people.

His passion for making tasty food started at an early age, as he said he would be hanging on his mother's left arm while she was cooking with the right.

Anthony grew up watching Justin Wilson - The Cajun Cook and Chef Martin Yan on "Yan Can Cook."

But, Emeril Lagasse is at the top of the list. He's been honing his cooking skills over the years.

His mother, Pamela Haines started her "Sweet Peaches" restaurant in 2015 at the same spot, 1800 W Muhammad Ali Blvd. Anthony became the cook at the restaurant just a year later, and after 7 years, Pamela was off to pursue another career in education and left the diner to Anthony.

The restaurant was forced to close for a while during Covid. During that time, the tragic hit and run death of his father, Dewain Haines, inspired Anthony to re-open as “Tino's Taste of Heaven."

When Anthony's father ate "Tino's" food, he would always say "I’m in heaven T."

The red cardinal bird with the chef hat in the logo symbolizes his dad watching over the restaurant. Dewain was a cardinal fan and a retired captain of the fire department.

Some restaurant growing pains almost forced Anthony to call it quits on the dream, but he stuck it out and people are loving what he is cooking up.

He loves to cook with soul creating specialty foods at a reasonable price.

Tino's baked chicken dark is “brined” overnight, the baked chicken white is injected with seasonings and broth mixed with butter, and the ribs are ”smoked” Texas style. He also smokes his oxtail and the turkey for all the deli sandwiches.

Don't forget about the desserts, like strawberry banana chess bars and honey bun cake with burnt butter cream cheese glaze!
