LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Western Middle School for the Arts is preparing for a special performance - their first-ever Gala Concert featuring performances by students, alumni and community artists.

WDRB's Keith Kaiser joined some of the participants before showtime.

During the nearly 100-year legacy, Western Middle School for the Arts (WMSA) has a lot to be proud of.

The West Best Kept Secret Gala Concert will feature a talented lineup and supports WMSA's 680 students from across Jefferson County and its educators.

The volunteer parent booster group, The Maestros Inc., helps supplement the funding.

Proceeds from the Gala will benefit the Maestros and be distributed to the arts magnet programs.

The funds will be used for: Quest teaching artists and specialized curriculum, auditorium stage annual safety inspections, technology for new Media Arts program, new music instruments, equipment, and upkeep, theatre lighting, sound, and production components.
