Check out this video! A New York State Mesonet camera in Penn Yan captured video of snow waves in an open field.
These snow waves are called "sastrugi" meaning "parallel wave-like ridges caused by winds on the surface of hard snow." According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts between 25 mph and 35 mph were recorded during this time period.
