For record-keeping purposes, March 1 is the start of spring in the weather community. That means today we can take a look back at the statistics from the winter season and the month of February. The 2023-24 winter season goes down at the 8th warmest in Louisville, and February 2024 was the 4th warmest February on record in Louisville.Ā

February was warmer and drier than normal. The average temperature for the month was 47.3Āŗ which is 7.8Āŗ above normal. Louisville also set a record high temperature on February 26th of 77Āŗ and record warm low temperature the next day of 57Āŗ. 1.63" of rain fell which is less than half of normal. Only 0.4" of snow fell when 4.1" of snow is normal for February in Louisville.Ā

With that data from February, this winter was the 8th warmest in Louisville. It goes in the record books with an average high temperature of 42.4Āŗ which is 4.1Āŗ above normal. Louisville measured 4.6" of snow from December 1 through February 29 which is less than half of what is considered normal (10.8").Ā
