Camp Atterbury is one of eight sites in the United States that will receive evacuees from Afghanistan. Officials expect about 1,000 evacuees by the end of the week and there could be as many as 5,000 total.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the presence of the detainees would not negatively affect the bases' operations or training. No word on when detainees could arrive.
