LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across Kentuckiana.

Here are a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening the weekend of Friday, Sept. 26 to Sunday, Sept. 28.

NuLu Fest

Louisville's East Market District will throw the 15th edition of its annual NuLu Fest this weekend.

The NuLu Business Association's annual autumn block party returns Sept. 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

While at NuLu Fest, attendees can enjoy live music, regional micro-brewed beers, activities for all ages, and numerous food and retail booths by local vendors.

Live music includes performances from the local School of Rock, Andrew Holley, Precious Pérez, Cait Justice, RELAAY and more.

The event is free, family-friendly and open to the public.

Boo at the Zoo

The 44th year of one of Louisville's favorite fall traditions kicks off this weekend.

Boo at the Zoo starts Saturday, Sept. 27 and will run Thursdays through Sundays from 5-9 p.m. until Oct. 30.

The after-hours event transforms the Louisville Zoo into a living storybook, complete with music, characters, photo ops and safe trick-or-treating for kids.

Trick-or-treating is for kids age 11 and under, but everyone is invited to dress up and join in on the fun.

Aside from trick-or-treating, the zoo will deck out its carousel with festive lighting and music to reflect the spooky season. There will also be a guided walk-through attraction where you can try to spot the legendary Headless Horseman, while learning about the famed tale of Ichabod Crane.

Also during Boo at the Zoo, guests can take a walk through the spider house for a guided tour that looks at the "intricate and beautiful webs of these beneficial arachnids."

Guests are encouraged to bring their own bags or pails for trick-or-treating. Reusable bags will be sold at the zoo's gift shop while supplies last.

The event is rain-or-shine. Organizers said tickets must be purchased online in advance of the event. Guests can enter the zoo until 9 p.m., but must exit by 10 p.m. Tickets include admission, parking and entry to the special attractions.

Zoo members can get tickets for $7.25 each, while non-members can get them for $13.75 each. Kids ages two and younger get in for free. You can also buy "Meijer Anytime Tickets" at participating Meijer locations. Those tickets are valid for any night of Boo at the Zoo.

exBEERiment: An Evening of Science and Craft Beer

Adults looking for a unique night out can head to the Kentucky Science Center this Friday for exBEERiment, a 21-and-over event that blends craft beer with hands-on science.

The event runs from 5:30-9 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Science Center on West Main Street in downtown Louisville. Guests will sample brews from local favorites, including: Mile Wide Beer Co., Hop Atomica Brewing, Against the Grain, Falls City Beer, Goodwood Brewing and Spirits, Trellis Brewing, and Blackberry Ale-8. A signature beer cocktail will be served by YourIshas Mixology.

Attendees will receive a souvenir mini beer mug and enjoy access to the center’s exhibits in an adults-only setting. The evening also includes interactive demonstrations exploring the chemistry of brewing, supernatural science with Boo812, and other activities tailored for grown-up audiences.

Food will be available from a local food truck, and a cash bar will offer additional drink options. Local vendors will also be on-site for shopping.

Bark in the Park

Two legged and four legged friends will come together for a good cause this weekend at Bark in the Park to benefit the Animal Care Society.

The 22nd Annual Bark in the Park, ACS’ longest-running event, is set for Saturday, Sept. 27 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Gheens Lodge in The Parklands of Floyd’s Fork-Beckley Creek, located at 1421 Beckley Creek Parkway in Louisville.

The day starts with a professionally-timed 5K race or a more leisurely 1-mile Woof Walk through the scenic trails.

After the race, the family-friendly festival begins with pet-friendly vendors, live entertainment, an interactive lure course for dogs, costume contests, kids’ activities, a Pet of the Year contest and more.

The festival is free to attend. To learn more about the Animal Care Society, click here. To learn more about Bark in the Park, or register for the 5K or 1-miler, click here.

Animal Care Society is a publicly-supported No Kill shelter whose purpose is to find new, safe, and loving forever homes for adoptable dogs and cats. Founded in 1984, ACS has placed over 16,000 pets into devoted and responsible homes.

Funds raised at Bark in the Park support the shelter’s operations, providing life-saving care to hundreds of animals each year.

Bardstown Scarecrow Trail

The Stephen Foster Drama Association is inviting residents and visitors to experience a new fall tradition with the debut of the Bardstown Scarecrow Trail.

The free drive-thru event showcases scarecrow creations from across the community at The Stephen Foster Story Amphitheater.

Running daily from Sept. 26 through Nov. 15, the trail will feature dozens of scarecrows designed by local businesses, schools, artists and organizations. The event is open until dusk and aims to highlight Bardstown’s artistic spirit while supporting the nonprofit’s mission to promote live theater and the arts in Kentucky.

Guests visiting the trail will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite scarecrows between Oct. 6 and Nov. 7, with winners announced in multiple categories.

While admission is free, donations to the Stephen Foster Drama Association are encouraged to help fund future programming.
