LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across Kentuckiana.

Here are a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening Saturday, Feb. 8 and Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025.

Black History Month at Roots 101 African American Museum

Roots 101 African American Museum is hosting several events throughout February to celebrate Black History Month.

The museum at 124 North 1st Street in downtown Louisville raises awareness of the African American experience from slavery to freedom, immersing visitors from the beginning through art, illustrations and education. Founded in 2020 by Lamont Collins, it's also a place for visitors to see themselves in history, to explore the African American story, and to gain a better understanding of the achievements, cultural contributions and experiences of African Americans.

The community is invited to learn about the resilience, creativity and contributions of African Americans in Louisville neighborhoods in honor of Black History Month.

Saturday, the museum will host its second Neighborhood Day. Neighborhood days are dedicated to specific neighborhoods in west Louisville, and provide an easy way for residents to experience the museum. Last Saturday was Russell Day, and this Saturday is Victory Park Day.

Each Neighborhood Day starts at noon, when neighbors board a TARC bus to Roots 101 from their neighborhood stop. From 12:30-1 p.m., light food will be available and a presentation will be given. From 1-2:30 p.m. will be dedicated to a self-guided tour of the museum. The TARC bus will board at 2:30 p.m. to return to the neighborhood. The estimated return time is 3 p.m.

Next Saturday, Feb. 15 is Smoketown Day, and the following Saturday, Feb. 22, is California Day. To learn more about Neighborhood Days, click here.

More events are scheduled throughout the month, including Battle For The Lantern, the annual Black History Month challenge between Grace James Academy and W.E.B. Dubois Academy.

The Miami Hurricanes (5-17) lost their first 10 ACC games before beating Notre Dame last Saturday.
