LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Government will host five listening sessions in September to get feedback from residents on the proposed redevelopment of the Belvedere.Â
The mayor's office said design plans for the redevelopment of Louisville's Belvedere are finished, and renderings will be revealed during the listening sessions.
Now, the city is working on what activities, experiences, and services will be available, and wants the community's opinions.
Project planners and architects will be at the listening session to answer questions.
The Belvedere listening sessions are scheduled for:
- Monday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Iroquois Library, 601 W. Woodlawn Ave.
- Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Northeast Regional Library, 15 Bellevoir Circle
- Saturday, Sept. 13 at noon at the Douglass Community Center, 2305 Douglass Blvd.
- Monday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Shawnee Library, 3912 W. Broadway
- Wednesday, Sept. 17 at noon at the Kentucky Center (North Lobby), 501 W. Main St.
Plans for a reimagined Belvedere were jump started in 2023 when the city hired an international design firm to compose ideas on the potential of the space.Â
The 7-acre space opened in 1973 just north of Fifth and Main streets, and has been home to the WorldFest festival, Thunder Over Louisville viewing and dozens of other Louisville festivals ever since.
