LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville residents were able to weigh in on plans to revitalize the Belvedere during a community meeting Thursday.
Mayor Craig Greenberg hosted the meeting asking for input on the project aimed at reimagining the future of the Belvedere.
The Belvedere sits on seven acres overlooking the Ohio River downtown, between 4th and 6th streets.
Plans to revamp the area have been discussed forĀ more than a year. The city set aside $10 million from the state for the project. Next year's budget will likely put more funding into the renovations.
Greenberg said the Belvedere has the potential to be a symbol of the city's future. Neighbors who live in the area had no shortage of ideas during Thursday's meeting.
"An ice cream shop, the little small shops you can go in, specialty shops, that you can go into and just shop, or something where you can get wholesome food, healthy foods, or something just different," said Jackie Floyd, who lives near the Belvedere.
Another community input meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Southwest Regional Library.
