LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Dozens of people put on their swim caps or grabbed their floaties Saturday for a good cause.
The second annual Swim Across America took place at Genesis Blairwood and Louisville Tennis Club to "Make Waves to Fight Cancer."
It was an open water swim with no lanes. There were teams who swam for distance and others who just wanted to float around.
Proceeds from the event benefited the UofL Health Brown Cancer Center.
"To build this group and to see this continue to grow is exciting for the community, it's exciting for Brown Cancer Center and it's extremely heartwarming and emotional," event chair Curt Dame said.
So far, the group has raised more than $80,000 this year.
