LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — It's almost time for corn dogs, funnel cakes and lemon shake-ups as there's just a few months until the Kentucky State Fair.

Entries are now open for the 122nd Kentucky State Fair, returning Aug. 20-30 at Louisville's Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center.

People can enter categories ranging from livestock and crops to handmade crafts and delicious treats.

The deadline for entries is Thursday, July 9 with a late entry window through July 16 for a fee.

This year, to celebrate America's 250th birthday, state fair officials encourage participates to show off their passions and family traditions that make Kentucky so special.

"Whether it's a recipe handed down for generations or livestock you've raised with pride, there's a place for you at this year's fair," said David S. Beck, President and CEO of Kentucky Venues, in a news release.

Also in honor of America's 250th birthday, the state fair is offering new competition categories such as patriotic baking, a new glasswork section in the Fire Arts department and new culinary classes like maple syrup recipes.
