LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Derby Festival is seeking thousands of volunteers to help with more than 70 events next year.
The volunteers help sell Pegasus Pins, support runners at the finish line of the mini-marathon and marathon races, the Pegasus Parade and more.
"We couldn’t put on the Kentucky Derby Festival without our volunteers," Matt Gibson, Kentucky Derby Festival President & CEO, said in a news release. "We’ve had some challenges recruiting volunteers since the pandemic, so we’re getting the word out earlier this year. It’s a great opportunity to work behind-the-scenes at your favorite Festival events and create unforgettable memories for your community during our favorite time of year."
Volunteers receive a free shirt, 20% discount on all Derby festival merchandise, special swag pack and tickets to other city events.
