LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A road known for deadly crashes in southwest Louisville could see some changes — but not anytime soon.
The city and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have been looking at data and working to find safe solutions to crashes in the Taylor Boulevard-New Cut Road Corridor. That's between the Watterson and the Gene Snyder.
The corridor ranks fifth of the 53 most dangerous roadways in Louisville, according to the city's transportation safety initiative Vision Zero.
City leaders and officials with KYTC held a public meeting Wednesday to get community feedback.
Problems include speed, and four lanes of traffic where the lanes are considered narrow.
"That many lanes and such a narrow space, and one person makes a mistake, it tends to have a ripple effect that can create some pretty severe crashes," said Michael Vaughn, KYTC Traffic Safety Branch manager.
That many lanes to cross over have also proven to be problematic for pedestrians.
The project is in the study phase, and KYTC said it could still be years before any changes are made.
A survey about the plans will be open until May 25. To provide your input, click here.
