LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Bats will sign a 9-year-old boy to a one-day contract this weekend.

Ben Rhodes will sign a one-day contract with the minor league baseball team. He's known as the Norton Children's "Super Kid."

Rhodes will start fourth grade in the fall. He's been a patient at Norton Children's throughout his life. He was born prematurely at 29 weeks and has undergone major surgery and treated for multiple conditions.

“We are thrilled to add Ben Rhodes to the Bats roster for our game this Saturday,” Louisville Bats president Greg Galiette said in a news release. “Ben is a great young man and a passionate baseball fan who has been through a lot to get to where he is right now. We are looking forward to having Ben and his family join us for an incredible day at Louisville Slugger Field.”

He was recently treated at Norton Children's Orthopedics of Louisville for Little League elbow. According to a news release, Rhodes will be joined by his family. His father Josh Rhodes played baseball for the University of Louisville.

Rhodes will participate in on-field promotions, meet Bats players and coaches, along with helping manager Pat Kelly on team strategy.
