Wes Hinton of DELTA Foundation with donated chromebooks - 2.5.24

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A local group has stepped in to help a west Louisville nonprofit that was hit by thieves last week.

On Monday, Louisville-based non-profit SOS International delivered 15 Chromebooks and chargers to the DELTA (Developing Educated Leaders Through Athletics) Foundation.

The donation helped to replace the Chromebooks that were stolen during a string of break-ins last month.

The moment was extra special as the director of operations for SOS International is a former student of the Director of DELTA Foundation.

"In an odd way, some blessings came out of this, and I appreciate the community stepping it up," said Wes Hinton, Director of Delta Foundation. "We are ready to move pass this, but we need these resources in order to do that, and for the kids to get some normalcy back seeing that everyone is back to having their own individual computers."

The DELTA Foundation, located on Portland Avenue, is a mentorship program that specializes in helping at-risk young athletes be successful. The organization serves more than 150 students from kindergarten through early high school, mostly from West Louisville.
